Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'FE' stand for in the lens name?

The 'FE' designation indicates that the lens is part of the Hasselblad F-series Electronic system. These lenses are designed for cameras with electronic control and a focal plane shutter.

What is the significance of the T* coating?

The T* coating is a multi-layer anti-reflective coating developed by Zeiss. It significantly reduces flare and ghosting while improving contrast and color fidelity in your images.

Can this lens be used on a Hasselblad V-series camera?

No, this FE-series lens is specifically designed for the Hasselblad F-series which uses a focal plane shutter. It is not compatible with the V-series cameras that employ leaf-shutter lenses.

Why does this lens not have an integrated shutter?

FE lenses rely on the focal plane shutter built into the Hasselblad F-series camera body. This design allows for higher shutter speeds and different lens constructions compared to lenses with integrated leaf shutters.

Is the 80mm focal length versatile for medium format photography?

Yes, an 80mm lens on a 6x6 medium format camera provides a field of view similar to a 50mm lens on a full-frame 35mm camera. It is an excellent choice for general photography, portraits, and street photography.
