Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 'Limited' designation mean for Pentax lenses?

The 'Limited' designation indicates a series of Pentax lenses known for their exceptional build quality, all-metal construction, and superior optical performance. These lenses are often produced in smaller batches and are highly regarded by photographers.

Is this 21mm lens suitable for full-frame Pentax cameras?

No, this DA Limited lens is specifically designed for Pentax APS-C cameras. While it can physically mount on a full-frame K-mount camera, it will likely exhibit significant vignetting and image quality degradation at the edges.

What types of photography is this 21mm wide-angle lens best for?

The 21mm focal length is excellent for landscape photography, street photography, architecture, and general travel. Its compact size makes it very portable, and its wide field of view captures expansive scenes effectively.

Does this lens feature autofocus (AF)?

Yes, as indicated by 'AF Lens' in its name, the Pentax SMC DA 3.2/21mm AL Limited supports autofocus with compatible Pentax K-mount camera bodies.

How does the f/3.2 maximum aperture perform in low-light conditions?

While not an extremely fast lens, f/3.2 is quite respectable for a wide-angle. It allows for good performance in moderately low light and provides some flexibility for creative depth of field, especially for a wide-angle.
