This Pentax SMC Takumar 1.4/50mm lens for the Pentax K mount is a well known fast standard lens from the Takumar series. The lens uses the classic 7 element optical design and is particularly known for the thorium glass elements used in its construction. Over time this glass develops a slightly yellow tint. The lens is in good condition with only minimal signs of use. The optics are very clean with only minimal internal dust that has no influence on image quality. The yellow thorium tint creates a characteristic rendering. For black and white photography this often results in increased contrast. In color photography the image may appear slightly warmer, which can easily be corrected during post processing if desired.
